The U.S. has a long history of voter suppression of Black and Brown people. Voting is the best way for people to defend their rights, advocate for themselves and make their voices heard. With “Our Future, Our Vote” initiative, the Southern Poverty Law Center is committed to equipping all people with the tools they need to navigate and overcome the barriers set by lawmakers to freely exercise the right to vote.
Since the 2020 elections, legislators and officials have employed various tactics to further suppress the vote. These measures have made it increasingly harder for people across the Deep South to register to vote and cast a ballot. There is plenty of disinformation out there; here’s how to spot it.
