Patriot Front Member Jailed in Texas Following Idaho Arrest

Steven Derrick Tucker, a member of white nationalist group Patriot Front, was jailed in Texas after a judge ruled that his bond on an existing felony charge would be withdrawn following his June arrest at a flash mob protest in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho. Tucker is awaiting trial on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Hatewatch has obtained a Mesquite Police Department arrest report, meanwhile, which details allegations underpinning that charge, with police charging that an August 2021 argument over household chores escalated to death threats, brandished weapons and Tucker’s arrest.

Hatewatch previously reported that Tucker, 30, now a resident of Haslet, Texas, had been charged over a confrontation with a roommate.

According to the arrest report, on Aug. 14, 2021, six Mesquite police officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance in Mesquite that included threats with a knife.

The officers saw Tucker about a block from the residence, questioned him and detained him in the back of a police car, according to the report.

Tucker’s two roommates told police that an argument over dirty dishes caused Tucker to get into the face of one of his roommates, who pushed him away.

His roommates claim that after being pushed away, Tucker “pulled out a knife and said, ‘I will fucking kill you,’” according to the arrest report.

The report states that one of Tucker’s roommates then pulled out his shotgun to protect the other roommate and told Tucker to leave. Instead of leaving, once the roommate put the shotgun down, Tucker began “wrestling” with him, the report continues. Tucker then left the house before being found by police, according to the report.

Tucker denied the argument had become physical and also denied making threats when questioned by officers, according to the report. Nevertheless, he was subsequently charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a felony.

Tucker was released on $25,000 bond on Aug. 22, 2021, but his prosecution was ongoing when he was among 31 members of Patriot Front who were arrested in Coeur D’Alene on June 11 and charged with conspiracy to riot, a misdemeanor.

The arrests – which made national headlines – were made as Patriot Front approached the location of a Pride Parade in the city that had been targeted by far-right influencers.

Prosecutors filed a June 16 motion to increase Tucker’s bond to $100,000 on the basis of his arrest in Idaho, according to Dallas County court records.

At a subsequent hearing on June 22, Magistrate Timothy Sommers denied Tucker bond. Tucker entered Dallas County Jail the same day, according to jail records.

Tucker was subsequently released on July 6 with additional bond conditions including a requirement that he wear a monitoring ankle bracelet.

Hatewatch has previously reported on the arrests of Patriot Front members for offenses connected to the group’s propaganda efforts in Round Rock, Texas, and Sanger, Texas. Hatewatch also previously reported on a Utah car crash that killed one member of the group and hospitalized six others, including founder and leader Thomas Rousseau.

Editor's note: Hatewatch updated this report to include recent developments in Tucker’s prosecution.
