Isabel Watkins Rubio

Isabel Watkins Rubio is founder and executive director of the Hispanic Interest Coalition of Alabama (¡HICA!), which educates and empowers Hispanics through community development and advocacy work. A second-generation Mexican-American born in Mississippi, Rubio has engaged with thousands of Hispanics across Alabama in 25 years of nonprofit advocacy. Rubio serves as a director on the board of several regional and national organizations and is a widely recognized speaker on immigration in the South. An avid equestrian and artist, Rubio has two daughters, several cats and a horse named Crown.
